The internal components on the 9505 became obsolete and no longer supported. The new 9505A satellite phone is a modified version of the 9505. The Iridium 9505A will have the same features as the 9505. The IR port has been replaced with a 7mm power jack. The new 9505A will not be compatible with a number of the 9505/9500 accessories which include chargers, data kit, and batteries.
